Communication was also a challenge. The school claims to be an English-medium institution, yet there is a noticeable gap in communication. The principal primarily communicates in Kannada, and many students, despite studying in an English-medium environment, are not confident in English. This creates confusion and discomfort, especially when clarity and proper guidance are needed.
The infrastructure and facilities of the school require serious improvement. Washrooms are poorly maintained, with broken or damaged doors, missing latches, unpleasant odor, and inappropriate writings on the walls. Basic hygiene, such as regular cleaning of dustbins, is not consistently maintained. These are fundamental facilities that every student deserves, and neglecting them reflects poorly on the management.
The overall environment of the school felt quite negative. There was a lack of encouragement, and both students and teachers seemed to be under constant pressure. The principal often interfered in students’ personal matters, even outside school, which felt intrusive. Normal interactions between students were sometimes misunderstood and reported as serious issues. This created a sense of discomfort and lack of trust.
Although the school promotes co-curricular activities, the actual execution is very limited. There is no proper playground or auditorium, and the exposure to sports and other activities is minimal. Students are not given enough opportunities to truly develop their talents. Even when students put in hours of effort—for example, in art exhibitions or other activities—they are often not recognized or rewarded. This lack of appreciation is discouraging, especially for those who try their best but do not succeed. Encouraging effort is just as important as rewarding success, but that balance is missing.
Teachers, too, seem to face challenges under the management. There appears to be a lack of support and fairness, and both teachers and students are often blamed. This affects the overall learning environment and reduces motivation on both sides. Additionally, despite charging relatively high fees, the school does not seem to provide facilities, opportunities, or quality of education that match those expectations.
From a personal perspective, I did not find the environment emotionally or socially supportive. The atmosphere among students could feel negative, and meaningful friendships were limited. Instead of feeling encouraged to grow, I often felt restricted and uncomfortable.
As I leave this school, I do not feel a sense of fulfillment. Rather, I feel relieved to move on. I genuinely hope that the school reflects on these issues and makes necessary improvements, because no student should feel stressed, discouraged, or unheard. No parent would want their child to go through such an experience or come out feeling unhappy.
Looking ahead, I am excited for a fresh start at Bangalore International School, where I hope to find a more positive, encouraging, and supportive environment. Leaving this place feels like a step toward a better future, and I am truly happy to be moving on.
